Hours of Animal Shelter Operation
CLOSED - Sunday and Monday
OPEN - Tuesday thru Saturday from 11:00 am. to 5:30 pm.
The Staff arrives everyday prior to the opening hours to feed, water, clean, medicate, vaccinate and take care of the animals.   
New River Humane Society, Inc. was established in July 1999 and we are a 501(c)3 non-profit, charitable,
humane organization dedicated to helping the animal companions in our county.  The humane society
maintains the everyday operation of the county animal shelter known as the Fayette County Animal Control
Center.

Funding
The Fayette County Animal Control Center is funded by the Fayette County Commission.  We are always in need
of monetary donations and supplies such as: dog and cat food, kitty litter, towels, sheets, blankets, cleaning
supplies, etc. Should you wish to donate, please call either one of the phone numbers listed below or you may
use our email address.  The organization's mailing address is: New River Humane Society, Inc. P.O. Box 955,
Fayetteville, WV. 25840.  All donations are very much appreciated and tax deductible.

Directions
From U.S. Rt. 19 Intersection in Fayetteville, turn onto Rt. 16 North and travel 4.3 miles, then turn left onto Fayette
Co. Park Road.  Travel 1.1 mile and then veer to the left onto a one lane paved road, then travel 1/2 mile and turn
left (go across bridge).  Please drive up the hill to the office for instructions on adoptions, deposits, reclaims,
admittance, lost & found, etc.

From the Gauley Bridge/Ansted areas (Rt. 60 east or west) will run into Rt. 16 South at Chimney Corner.  Once
on Rt. 16 South (going toward Fayetteville) travel 4 miles and turn right onto Fayette Co. Park Road.  Travel 1.1
mile and then veer to the left onto a one lane paved road, then travel 1/2 mile and turn left (go across bridge).
